So, log in to your WordPress website dashboard and install a new plugin. Type “Username Editor” and install it.
Upon activation, a new menu will be created on the left side or WordPress dashboard navigation.
Step 1: Enabling the Username editing feature.
Once you have successfully activated the plugin, visit this plugins settings page. Inside the settings panel, enable the feature by clicking the checkbox and save settings.
Also, enable the role “Administrator.” So only administrators will be able to change usernames.

The first thing to open your database manager, in my case, is Heidi SQL. But don’t worry, the procedure is the same for other database managers also.
Upon successful login, inside your database, open wp_users table.
Note: The prefix may vary from user to user. So in my case, I used the default wp prefix.
Inside the table, you will find the list of all users who are currently registered with your site.
Click on the username column of the user you wish to change username of.
Enter the new username and you are done.
How To Creating a New High Privileges User?
The easiest and safe way to change the username in WordPress is to create a new high privileged user.
This is a pretty safe way for beginners to change the WordPress username without breaking anything on the website. So let’s start.
On left side of WordPress navigation, hover over Users and click Add new.
Enter the required details, and if you wish, you can add details to the user. And you are done.
